Post-Custody Battle Family Law Counseling
Your final court date is over. Hooray! You now have a detailed parenting plan signed by a judge. The parenting plan details visitation from the time of pickups and drop-offs to how holidays will be split. Your parenting plan probably also sets out a plan for who will make decisions about your child, which decisions range from educational decisions to medical decisions.
Maybe you are in favor of the plan, and maybe you hate it. Either way, you have to make some adjustments to your life to accommodate these court-ordered changes. Further, you also have to make sure that your child is adjusting well to the new schedule. Accommodating your new custody plan can take an emotional toll on you and your entire family. Unfortunately, this will not likely be the last time that you are a part of legal proceedings as it relates to your custody case.
Whether it is to enforce the current custody order or to have it modified in some way, the legal and emotional byproducts of your custody battle can continue long beyond the final hearing. This is why it’s important to have someone who you can trust to help you walk through the after-effects of your custody case, legally and mentally.
Generally, the goals of Post-Custody Battle Counseling include:
- Understanding the legal process of the post-custody case.
- Being able to navigate the intense emotions that arise post-custody.
- Learning how to deal with the new normal of adhering to your custodial agreement from both legal and emotional standpoints.
